What are the post-treatment measures for veneered birch plywood to prevent cracking and deformation

Veneered Birch Plywood has been widely used in many fields such as furniture manufacturing, architectural decoration and interior decoration due to its elegant appearance, excellent structural stability and excellent durability. However, during its production and use, veneered birch plywood also faces many challenges such as cracking and deformation.

Sanding is a crucial step in the post-processing of birch veneer plywood. Through sanding, burrs, uneven areas and possible residual glue on the surface of the board can be effectively removed, thereby making the board surface smoother and more delicate, and significantly improving the beauty and texture of the product. Additionally, sanding helps relieve stress within the board, reducing the risk of cracking and deformation.
During the sanding process, manufacturers need to select appropriate sandpaper or sanding belts based on the material and thickness of the board, and reasonably adjust the pressure and speed of the sanding machine. Maintaining uniform force and speed is the key to sanding. Excessive sanding may cause uneven thickness of the board or surface damage, so the operation process needs to be carefully controlled.

Trimming and seam processing
Trimming is the further treatment of the edges and seams of veneered birch plywood to ensure its smoothness and aesthetics. During the trimming process, manufacturers need to use professional trimming tools, such as trimming knives and grinding wheels, to finely polish and trim the edges and joints of the panels.
For the treatment of joints, manufacturers must ensure the tightness and smoothness of the joints. If there are gaps or bulges in the joints, they need to be filled, polished or repaired to avoid cracking and deformation in subsequent use.

Quality control and testing
In the post-processing of veneered birch plywood, quality control and testing are key links to ensure product quality and stability. Manufacturers need to conduct strict quality inspections on each batch of boards, covering multiple indicators such as dimensional stability, inter-layer bonding strength, water resistance, wear resistance and stain resistance.
Among them, the dimensional stability test evaluates the dimensional changes of the board in a humid or dry environment; the interlayer bonding strength test detects the bonding strength between each layer; the water resistance test is used to evaluate the performance changes of the board after being immersed in water; The abrasion test examines the wear resistance of the surface of the board; the stain resistance test evaluates the board's resistance to stains.

Moisture-proof and insect-proof treatment
Veneer birch plywood is susceptible to moisture and insect damage during use, which can cause cracking and warping. To extend the life of the board and maintain its appearance, manufacturers must effectively protect the board from moisture and insects.
Moisture-proof treatment can be achieved by painting the surface of the board with moisture-proof paint or dipping. Moisture-proof paint can form a protective film that effectively blocks moisture from penetrating into the interior of the board; while the impregnation treatment significantly improves its moisture-proof performance by penetrating the moisture-proof agent into the interior of the board.
Insect repellent treatment can be accomplished by applying insect repellent to the interior or surface of the board. These insect repellents can effectively kill or repel pests, thereby protecting the board from insect infestation.
